    He is usually straightforward and looks around. He lives in a group home three stops away from where he was born and raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    His parents are in their 60s and his mother has already passed away, but he does not know it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After graduating from a special needs school, he joined a company that employed physically challenged people to sort garbage and did the sorting work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He had problems with people around him, was cheated by bad friends and had to pay for all his nights out at cabarets and other places, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    and had some problematic behavior, but now he goes to Type B every day and does not exhibit any problematic behavior. I feel that I can easily be dyed into the surroundings in both good and bad ways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He would like to try living on his own, he is over 20 years old and would like to try and see how far he can go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He talks about wanting to get a garbage job or a flying job, but I am concerned because of his aforementioned personality. How do you think I should support his self-realization?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As an experienced social worker and professional psychologist, supporting the self-realization of a young man in his 20s with intellectual disabilities in this case involves several key steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Setting Personal Goals:<\/strong> Start by helping him identify and clarify his own goals. Understand his desire to live independently and explore his potential, whether it’s in a garbage-related job or something else. Work together to break these goals down into smaller, achievable steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Skill Development:<\/strong> If he’s interested in garbage-related or other jobs, provide training to enhance the specific skills and knowledge required. Focus on improving communication skills and problem-solving abilities, which are valuable in any work environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Building a Support Network:<\/strong> Given his tendency to be influenced by others, it’s crucial to establish a healthy support network. Help him connect with trustworthy friends and advisors who can provide guidance and support. Strengthen communication with his remaining family members to maintain those bonds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Daily Routine and Self-Management Support:<\/strong> Acknowledge the positive changes he’s made, such as attending Type B regularly and avoiding problematic behavior. Support his daily routine and help him develop self-management skills. Encourage healthy habits and consider regular counseling or therapy to manage stress and emotions effectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Vocational Training and Employment Assistance:<\/strong> Since he previously worked in a garbage-sorting job, build on that experience by providing vocational training and employment support. Explore local job opportunities and help him find a suitable work environment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      The most important aspect of supporting his self-realization is respecting his desires and needs while guiding him toward success.
